Mission 8 (Present) Part 3 –

*Tao Village – Spinda Café*

Jack and Takaki were sitting next to each at the bar of the Spinda Café. Jack was busy slurping down the coldest drink he could order. “Well here’s to the success and failure of our missions,” Jack said raising his cup in the air.

“Heheh, Yup! Your mission both a success for bringing back a Lava Rock but a Failure for being the smallest one retrieved,” Takaki stated.

“Yeah and your job was a complete failure! Not only were the Merchant’s somehow tipped off to the attack. But the group that went there was so small they barely made a dent in the Merchant’s defenses. So congrats on your failure,” Jack chuckled downing the last of his drink. “You did better than I thought you would.”

“…I guess it’s because I finally understood what you said about a ‘Rogue’s Pride’,” Takaki said finishing his drink. “A Rogue does what they feel is right. And no matter how society sees them, they continue to move forward, following the path of a Rogue with their pride on the line.”

“…Heh, I guess that’s one way of looking at it,” Jack said. “You know, I also learned something myself. I can’t do this Rogue thing alone. Maybe if we were working together from the beginning, then either one of our jobs could’ve turned out better.”

“Heh, here’s to learning new things!” Takaki said raising his empty cup to Jack.

“I’ll drink to that,” Jack said tapping Takaki’s cup with his own.
