A little embarrassing...

This is a little embarrassing to be talking about but it made me really happy. Earlier today someone I know who I was doing a commission for called and asked if we could meet today. So we met where we usually hang out and I showed him the progress of his commission. That's when he told me he told someone about how this commission would be used to make his mat and that guy he told said he was a designer and he could make him a better mat. When I heard that I thought 'Oh... great, so you want to drop me and have this guy make you a mat.' So I mentally prepared myself as this isn't the first time it's happened. But what he said next surprised me. He said he told the guy "No way, man. This guy actually creates this stuff from scratch. He's not posting images together, he's actually making me a 100% custom mat." Though it was in essence true I was creating the mat's design from scratch I still felt happy nonetheless. Then he said the one thing that usually takes my commissioners away from me. The designer said he'd do it cheaper than what I offered. And again I thought that he would say something along the lines like 'So I decided to go with this guy I hope you understand." But again I was caught off guard by what he told me he did. He said he showed him the last commission I did for him and the designer actually stopped trying. I was speechless and my mind was a complete blank for about a second. Usually I lose my commissions whenever someone offers to do it for less than what I offer. So you can imagine how happy I was to hear that he wanted to stick with me.
